Arthramid

Monday 5th March 2018

Arthramid is a relatively new drug and as such I have found it tricky to get much information that is relevant to the general dog owner like myself.  I discovered it via a friend who had a labrador with severe arthritis who had Artramid injected and saw a huge difference in the lameness and comfort of her dog.  This led me to investigate further and to the discovery of two more owners who had also had very good experiences with Arthramid in their own dogs with osteoarthritis.

At Gillie's most recent CT scan, I discussed options with the surgeon and I raised the question of using Arthramid.  We also discussed stem cell treatment but when I asked what sort of results he had seen from this treatment he said 'not amazing'.

I am a firm believer in quality of life over quantity and for me it is important that Gillie is able to continue to enjoy his walks and not to live a life where he is unable to run and enjoy himself.  For me, Arthramid appears to offer the best chance of this with the least invasive procedure and best recovery time.  Only time will tell if it is successful but I have everything crossed at this point!

Graham Oliver at East Midlands Referrals is conducting a trial with Arthramid

All of the above have been very helpful in providing me and my own vet with information and enabling Gillie to have the treatment at his own veterinary surgery.
